Nyaung Chaung along the main road and Zikhone village with its beach both belong together. They are part of peaceful Gwa Township. The main road linking Yangon via Gwa with famous Ngapali Beach leads through the vast, evergreen Ayarawaddi flatlands before crossing the Arakan Mountains. After its descent into Gwa, the southern most town of Rakhine State, the road turns northward, passing our bus stop at Nyaung Chaung, leading on through nearby Kanthayar and further on to Thandwe town and Ngapali. With its status as the southern main road to Ngapali, it has seen huge improvements in recent years. Nowadays, driving through southern Rakhine State is easy, safe and truly pleasant.

Major road distances and travelling times by car / by bus (timings depend on major road projects)

Come to Nyaung Chaung, than take the right turn off!

The few snack stalls at the sharp main road bend near Nyaung Chaung monastery mark your turn off to Zikhone. Follow the unpaved village lane to reach our village within a few minutes. After a short descent on the hoppy road, keep going straight, pass Zikhone monastery, cross the small bridge ahead after which you'll see an electric transformer to your right. Keep going straight to the next diversion where you take your final right turn - and you can see our gate down the alley.

On the main road or with drivers, mention Nyaung Chaung (-Zikhone) if you tell your destination or ask for the way. Do let us know how you travel. We are happy to pick you up at Nyaung Chaung bus stop.
